Testimonial #108: Evil Unions, stay away!
Just though I'd give you all a head's up: I now work part time at Best Buy,
behind the scenes, changing prices and merchandising, et cetera. Just a
little extra spending money, as my husband is the real bread winner in the
family. By no means am I a "company gal." At our black Friday prep meeting,
we had a nice little union information session... a one-sided, anti-union
rant from our general manager about how "they" (union recruiters) will come
in and harass "us" (poor, unsuspecting employees) about joining their evil
union, paying outrageous union fees, and literally stripping us of our
rights if we sign these "authorization forms." They will allegedly bully us
into it, promising protection, better wages, better hours, better benefits
that those offered by the company. While I don't think a union is necessary
for this silly j-o-b, my a-hole manager did a bang-up job painting unions as
evil, power hungry, faceless entities that are out to destroy lives and
families and companies. I AM LIVID. My father was a union member for 40
years, and the security provided to him is what kept our family cared for.
My husband is now a union pipefitter and he'd NEVER get the sort of job
security and wages he gets now if he was non-union. If there are any union
tradesmen reading this, I know it's extremely hard if not impossible to buy
consumer electronics that are in any way shape or form attached to union
work or at least American made, but don't think my big, evil, power hungry,
faceless entity of a corporation is your All-American answer. Best Buy is
hardly any better than Walmart.
