Testimonial #49: Sure, this software will work...

I was interested in upgrading my operating system from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 so I went to Best Buy and spoke to the Technician in the computer department. He asked me why I was upgrading to windows 2000 and not windows XP. I told him that I didn't think XP would have the proper drivers included in the upgrade and because I didn't know that much about it I wanted to go with something I had experience with which was windows 2000. He told me XP would handle the upgrade no problem at least 3 times during our conversation so I took his word for it and bought it for $100. I opened the box, removed the CD and started the upgrade process only to find out that there were issues on my hardware preventing me from completing the upgrade which was being reported by the XP software. I then stopped the upgrade and returned the software to Best Buy where they informed me that they have a policy of not refunding the purchase price on any opened software. They didn't care about the fact that their technician had lead me down this path of failure and told me I needed to contact the manufacturer, "I didn't buy it from the manufacturer" I told them "I bought it from you and I want me money back". They told me if I had an issue I needed to contact their corporate office which I did. The Corporate office also didn't care about my problem and recited the strict software policy again to me. Now I'm stuck with software that doesn't work and out the $100. I have vowed to never step foot again in to the evil empire and convert as many people as I can to join me in the march to bring down the house.
