Testimonial #57: PC games...and buy a Dell!

Ok, so this isn't a story of getting fucked around with because I bought a computer. Luck enough, I have a good computer from a great company (DELL!) that has an excellent warranty program (hint, hint to all you people looking to buy a computer.) My is of the general inquirie sort and it goes as follows.

I had interest in getting and still do the Star Wars:Knights of The Old Republic game for the pc. At the time when it first came out I didn't know that the pc one wouldn't be out till november/december. So I go into the store and start looking around the PC game racks and look and look and look. After about 20mins a store clerk (about 17, 5'10", 180lbs. jack ass looking kid)asks me if I need any help. I tell him I am looking for the game and he says well they're right this way. So I follow him until I realize that he is leading me to the Xbox area. I stop and tell him, my apologies I did not make myself clear and that I meant the PC version. So he says that the game is only for the Xbox and that the PC couldn't handle the game. So I tell him this is in fact untrue as I had been looking at the game site and saw that they were releasing it on the PC. He says to me the website is wrong and that it is only for Xbox. So we haggle back and forth for 5 mins until he says "well lets go over to the computer and look. If its not on this list then its never coming out." So I agree knowing it'll be on the list. The list he loads up is the ebgames?! website and looks up Star Wars games. It comes up with a couple pages of info. So he looks through the first page and says "See, nothing." I then point out in the most condescending way I can "Well there is other pages you can look at." He doesn't answer and quickly changes to the next page where 5 or 6 games down we spot Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic for pc. He then turns to me and with a straight face goes "SEE!! I told you, it wont be out until November 15 (or whatever the date was). " So I give him the most stupidous look in the world and say "You kid, are an imbecile who knows very little about anything." I turned and walked away and overheard him muttering curses at me behind my back.

Now I will admit there ARE some nice people at this store but on the whole they are jackasses like this guy. I will also say that when I got home and looked at the KoTOR website it was due out in november of sometime (which I missed and wasted a trip to the store).

A quick good storey for those who need computers. If you can, go with dell. I had my cdrom writer stop working on me after like 2months of having got the computer. So I get on the phone with a tech rep who does his usual checks to make sure nothing else is causing the malfunction and determines that I need a new cdrom. 2 days later there is a knock on my door and its a dell rep with a brand new (and actually faster) cd rom writer who opens my computer, shoots the shit with me a little, installs the new cdrom and bades me a good day.. Now that is service. :)
